Let me start this post by saying that it has taken me 21 years to find a hair routine that actually works for me. As you’ll gather from this post, I like my hair straight. I don’t suit curly/wavy or anything else. The only problem is that my hair is fine and frizzy. I can straighten it all I want but if it wants to frizz – it will. It especially hates the rain, which is great because I live in England.
So after years of trying different products, I have finally found stuff that genuinely works. Some of the products I mention in this post are fairly expensive but to be honest I’ve found that if you invest – you’re more likely to get the right results.
Bumble&Bumble Straight Shampoo
I’ve mentioned this shampoo on my blog five hundred times already and I still can’t stop singing it’s praises. It’s the one – I have found my shampoo soulmate. A tiny bit of this goes a long way. It keeps my hair fresh and clean for up to three days as well as fighting off unwanted frizz. And it smells great.
KMS California Moist Repair
I straighten my hair almost daily and because of this, it’s a broken mess. My hairdresser recommended this product to apply on the ends of my hair after I’ve washed it. I’m usually wary of these kinds of products but I took the leap of faith and bought it. I have been using it after every wash since November and I’ve seen massive improvements. My hair has been resurrected from the dead.
Kerastase Heat Protector
To prevent further damage being made, I use this heat protector. I actually stole this from my mother (sorry mummy, you’re more than welcome to borrow it anytime you want). I prefer using this to a spray-on product because I can apply it exactly where I want it, if that makes any sense… I basically have trust issues with spraying products. This stuff is good but my life would go on if I didn’t have it anymore.
BB Straight Blow Dry
This is another essential in my hair routine. A tiny bit of this in my hair before I blow dry and I’ll feel more confident about having a frizz-free day. I add a bit more if it’s a rainy day.
Mark Hill Blow Dryer
I always blow dry my hair. If I don’t, it tends to go flat and wavy – which definitely does not suit me. This hair dryer is cheap and does the job perfectly.
Life would simply not be the same without my straighteners. These are GHD’s which I’d definitely recommend if you’re a straighten-aholic like me. It is damaging to your hair, but in my opinion it’s worth it.
Just in case you’re wondering, conditioner is missing from my routine! Due to my hair being so fine I can’t apply anything else to it because it will weigh it down and end up going greasy.
