Finding the right foundation is a lot like finding your soul-mate – you’re never truly satisfied until you’ve found the one. I found my soul-foundation two years ago and I haven’t used anything else since. I’ve tried and tested a few others out of interest, but nothing else does the job quite as well.
My mum allowed me to first wear make-up when I was 14, but she made me promise her one thing – to never apply too much. She taught me the beauty of the natural look. I think a lot of girls think that in order to have “natural” looking skin, they actually need to have perfect, flawless skin. I suffered awful acne up until about a year and a half ago – the kind of acne that hurts to look at. For years I was convinced that I needed to cake the thickest liquid on my face in order to look the slightest bit pretty. But actually, it made my skin look worse.
I found this BareMinerals foundation just over two years ago. The sales assistant at Debenhams taught me how to cover blemishes effectively yet minimalistically – using a concealer brush (it honestly doesn’t matter which brand or how expensive/inexpensive it is) with a small amount of the foundation to cover any redness/spots/undereyes etc etc. Followed by lightly applying the foundation using a bigger face/powder brush.
The foundation covers anything and everything and evens out your skin tone. It helps to make your face look fresh and flawless (no matter how many flaws). It’s light and most importantly it only contains natural ingredients, which is so important for healthy skin! And what I love the most is that it lasts! It doesn’t wear off easily and I never have to worry about reapplying.
It may be slightly more effort to apply compared to a liquid foundation, but I can promise that it’s so much easier to achieve the natural, fresh look.
As my mother would say, “less is always more when it comes to beauty”.
