I hate cleaning my brushes. I find it so tedious and boring but I know how important it is. Do you know how important it is?
If you care about the longevity your brushes, you should clean your brushes regularly. If you care about your skin, you should clean your brushes regularly. And lastly, if you care about your make up, you should clean your brushes regularly.
Not cleaning them results in bacteria and gross things getting everywhere – including your pores! I honestly reckon the number one reason why the majority of people have bad skin is due to not washing their brushes.
Loads of high end make-up brands sell super expensive brush cleansers which are all totally unnecessary. Get yourself some baby shampoo and water and you’re ready to go.
Wet your brushes under the tap and then squeeze a dollop of baby-shampoo in the palm of your hand. Using your other hand, swirl your brush around in your palm and watch/be horrified by the amount of make-up that washes out. Keep going until it’s super clean and no traces of make-up are left. This can take a while, depending on how long ago you last washed them.
Set them to dry lying down on a towel. A big brush usually takes around a day to dry.
This honestly takes 5 minutes to do and in the long run saves you a lot of money. I wash mine every couple of weeks, but I’ve heard people recommend you wash them every week. I guess it depends a lot on how often and how heavily you apply your make-up using your brushes.
