For years I never applied any products other than lip balm to my lips. I used to fear a) getting anything on my teeth and b) looking like a clown. Slowly, I’ve eased myself into the lipstick world after endless umm-ing and ahh-ing. I haven’t braved the boldly coloured lips just yet, but at the moment I’m very proud of my collection of “my lips but better” lipsticks.
Warning: a few of these lipsticks are heart breakingly expensive… What I really recommend is saving up loyalty points from either Boots and Debenhams and then getting these higher end products for free. That way you can have guilt-free cute lips.
Charlotte Tilbury – Lip Cheat in Pink Venus (£16)
To make my lipstick last as long as possible, I firstly apply lip-liner. I never used to believe in lip-liner until I received this one as a Christmas present and then my whole world changed. Believe or not my friends, lip-liner actually works. I apply it all over my lips as if it’s a lipstick and then I apply the lipstick of my choice over that. This colour lip-liner goes with all of the lipsticks I mention in this post.
Revlon Lip Butter – Pink Truffle 001 (£7)
My love of lip products started with this bad boy. If you’re looking for a lipstick that’s reasonably priced but also does the job well, Revlon Lip Butters are perfect for you. This colour is great for Winter/Autumn because it’s slightly darker but not scary dark. It’s a safe dark.
Soap & Glory – MotherPucker in The Missing Pink (£9)
This is the perfect “my lips but better” colour. It’s a matte finish too, which I’m really into at the moment. This, topped with a cute lipgloss looks really cute.
Dior Addict – High Shine in Champagne Blush 352 (£24)
Firstly, the packaging of this lipstick is to die for. My mum treated me to this a while ago and I have treated it like my finest treasure ever since. The colour is a perfect pink for Spring and Summer and it has the tiniest tint of shimmer too. Possibly my favourite lipstick.
Dior Addict – Beige Negligee 223 (£23)
This is actually my mum’s and I’m totally shooting myself in the foot by posting this because she will want it back as soon as she reads this. I love this nude colour, I love how smooth it is when you apply it and I love how long it lasts. I just love Dior…
Mac – Frost Lipstick in Sequin (£15.50)
I recently got this stick for free thanks to Back2Mac. The colour actually reminds me of my Revlon Pink Truffle lipstick, so in hindsight I should’ve really branched out and chosen something different. However this one does last slightly longer throughout the day and the colour is slightly more pigmented.
Chanel – Rouge Coco Shine in Liberte 46 (£26)
This is another freebie I got thanks to my loyalty to Boots (if you don’t have a Boots advantage card, you’re really missing out). This is a coral/orange colour which I never would have chosen myself, but the lovely Chanel lady told me it was my soul-lipstick and so I tried it on and I fell in love then and there. I wear this when I want to brighten up my make-up look for the day. Real cute.
