I’m the kind of person that researches a specific product thoroughly before spending money on it. I’m also the kind of person who falls in love with a brand and then trusts every single product they have. Most of the following disappointing products are from brands that I love. It hurts my heart a little bit to write this post, as the regret of these splurges sink in.
La Roche-Posay – Rosaliac Micellar Make-up Removal Gel
I bought this whilst I was using La Roche-Posay’s skincare set, which I got on with really well. At the time I thought I could convert myself to be a total La Roche-Posay girl, so I bought this make-up remover when I ran out of my usual Garnier Micellar water. I actually cried the first time I used this – my eyes!!!! Ouch. It stung and then it wouldn’t stop stinging. Since then I used it a few times to remove my face make-up, but I’m still a bit emotionally scarred from using it on my eyes. On the bottle it says “Cleanses and soothes face and eyes”, but my eyes said otherwise…
Butter London – Knackered
I am a massive fan of Butter London. When I saw this colour, my heart was so happy. It’s so different and magical. I decided I’d take the plunge and spend the painful £14, only to be disappointed by the formula. It’s so sheer!!! I no joke, applied 6 coats and I could still see the white of my nail underneath. And the colour really isn’t that magical on my nail – it’s more seaweedy green than magical mermaid.
Maybelline – Super Stay 24 Color in Raspberry Framboise Infinie
I have this exact lipgloss in the colour Rose Dust, which is one of my favourite lip products of all time. I don’t know what went wrong with this colour but it just looked gross on my lips. The formula was sticky and bitty. It looked like I had attached a raspberry. Not cute.
Bumble and Bumble – BB Holding Spray
This is the most painful one of them all to admit – Bumble and Bumble let me down. I bought this roughly two months ago when I was on my Bumble and Bumble high. This product is just weird. It doesn’t do what it says and it’s the biggest waste of money. Every time I see it lying in my drawer I get a bit emotional.
Kiko – Long Lasting Colour Lip Marker in 106
This is my first ever Kiko product – a brand of which I’ve heard great things. This lip marker however, makes me think otherwise. I’m thankful that it only cost a few quid, because it’s rubbish. It’s genuinely like applying a child’s felt-tip pen to your lips.
