It has taken me far too long to pick this book off the bookshelf and start reading it. This morning was the day I wandered over and opened it for the first time. I’m so glad I did.
If you don’t know, Bobbie Houston (along with her husband, Brian Houston) founded Hillsong Church in Australia over 30 years ago. She’s an inspiring woman in the life of the church. She actually wrote this book back in 1998 but as I read it today, it is still 100% relevant to me in 2015. And to be honest, I think it will be relevant to all women, no matter what their age and in what year to come.
She writes about us women as individuals and our potential. She tells us how to follow God’s calling for our lives with confidence. How we can break the barriers we place on our own lives, believing that we can’t. Bobbie shows us that through God, we can.
To be completely honest, I normally find reading books like this quite tedious and boring. Which is why I delayed it for so long. But Bobbie’s sense of humour along with her humble and cute personality is addictive. If you hate reading, I promise this book isn’t heavy, too long or effort to read. A chapter a night will be easy to achieve. I actually read the whole book today within a couple of hours (I’ve been annoying Bradley all morning, texting him everything about it). But that’s exactly what this book aims to do – get you excited and ready to go achieve big things.
No matter how young or old you are, if you’re a woman, I highly recommend you read this book. It will help you to look past your insecurities and inadequacy and make you look ahead to God and His plan.
(Hey friends! You can all take one big guess to what you’re getting for your birthday this year… Hehe)
