If you have been reading on my blog for a while, you’ll probably know about my love for reading. I’ve been busier than usual the past two to three weeks, so sadly haven’t been reading as much as I normally do. The following are the only two books I have managed to stick my nose in.
Admittedly I wasn’t blown away by the cover (sorry Brian…), but having known about the author and Hillsong Church for so many years I knew I really had to read it. And in all honesty I loved it. It was so, so easy to get into – unlike many books of this genre.
Brian opens up a lot throughout the book, giving insights to his life as well as others’ from the Hillsong world. It’s a book that truly gives hope and encouragement to anyone walking their journey with God and finding their way in the church, especially when life gets tough.
If you’re considering giving it a read, I’d definitely say yes – you will undoubtedly enjoy it.
The other book I’ve been reading this past week is Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I’m a massive fan of Rainbow’s writing. She completely got my attention when I read Eleanor & Park, followed by Fangirl.
Because of that, it really hurts to say I didn’t enjoy this one. I tried sooooo hard to love this story but it was just weird. I loved the characters – which is the only reason why I pushed through the dodgy storyline to find out what happens.
So sadly, this isn’t a book I’d jump up and down to recommend to anyone. Saying that, I’m still loving Rainbow Rowell and I have all my fingers and toes crossed that her next novel will be more like the others.
The next two books on my list are: God is Able by Priscilla Shirer and PS, I still love you by Jenny Han. I’ll keep you updated on how they go 🙂
