Wave of doubt
James 1:6 – But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
I hate to admit that I doubt God’s promise regularly. I have days when I’m confident and full in faith, but then I also have days when I’m doubtful, insecure and purely frustrated from waiting. In those days, I feel exactly as James describes in the verse above – blown and tossed by my own doubt.
God calls us to walk by faith and not by sight. He calls us to plant ourselves firmly in His Word and His promise. He doesn’t call us to have one foot in and the other foot out when we feel like it. That means we need to live with faith on our good days and our bad days. In moments of confusion and doubt, we need to speak His Word back into our life so that we can find our footing.
When the waves of doubt start to rock us, we need to let His peace enter our hearts and place ourselves firmly back onto His foundation.
Don’t let your own waves of unbelief, insecurity and doubt drown your faith. Stand tall, stand brave and stand firm.
