1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Encourage one another and build each other up.
Hebrews 3:13 – Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘today’, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
If I’m totally honest, encouragement from others is one of the main reasons why I have been able to keep up with my blog the way I have. The kind and genuine words from those of you who read have truly built me up over the past year and a half. Of course, I don’t solely write blog posts because of encouragement, but for God. But the encouragement helps to affirm God’s call over my life – especially when my motivation tank is running low.
I believe that God calls us to encourage others. He’s placed us in a world filled with people, and He created the most beautiful thing called friendship. We weren’t created to live alone, but to live together – connected.
Encouragement is a selfless act of love that gives hope. My challenge for you this morning (and every morning that follows from today, of course!) is to think who in your world needs an uplifting word today? It doesn’t need to be a Bible verse or anything deep and spiritual if you don’t want it to be.
A simple, “you’re special to me, because ___” does wonders.
Make the choice and the effort to build someone else up today. I have a feeling it will impact them way more than you ever think it would.
