Mark 4:30 -32 – Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all the seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in it’s shade.”
Do you sometimes feel insignificant? Or that what you do is insignificant?
I was talking to someone about my blog the other day and I described it as just a small blog, nothing special. Because admittedly, that’s how I feel about it most days. Compared to some of the other blogs I follow, mine is definitely a small blog. My writing career at the moment is small compared to others.
But what I love about this verse is that Jesus compares God’s Kingdom to the smallest mustard seed on earth. Something so small it’s barely even there. And when planted, it grows and becomes the largest plant.
So perhaps I’m feeling small right now, but I know that I’m planted in good soil. I know that I’m planted in God – in His word and in His church. And with His power and His strength, He can grow my small into something bigger than I could ever imagine.
And He can do the same for you.
