Proverbs 22:4 – True humility and fear for the Lord lead to riches, honor and long life.
I read a book recently by an author who preaches the Word of God. In the book she wrote about giving God the glory. She said how after every message she spoke, when the congregation began to applaud – she made sure she applauded with them and then raise her hands to God to remind herself and the congregation that the glory wasn’t hers but God’s alone. If it weren’t for Him, she would never have been able to get up on that stage and preach that message.
I see that as humility. Remembering that you yourself aren’t perfect but He is. And through His greatness, we are able to achieve great things. Fear for the Lord is when you know that He is above all things. He is powerful and mighty. He is the Saviour of all the earth.
Humility and fear of God go hand in hand together. Knowing that your day is His – your weaknesses today aren’t a problem for His ultimate perfection. You don’t have to worry about what’s going to happen or what isn’t going to happen, because His will always prevails and that’s all that matters.
Turn your “I can’t” into “But He can”. Stay humble and stand in awe of God’s faithfulness and watch how He blesses you for it.
