Acts 6:2 -4 – So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:7 – So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Word of God spread, after people who were full of the Spirit and wisdom were given the responsibility and authority to spread it.
I believe that all of us are called to spread the Word of God – all in our own different ways. The only problem is that too many of us neglect the importance of filling ourselves with His Spirit and wisdom. We don’t sit in His word often enough and we don’t invite the Spirit into our hearts long enough for it to grow and strengthen within us.
Make the time in your every day life for God to fill you up. Make the room in your heart on a daily basis for Him to speak to you and teach you. Once you’re filled up, I believe more and more doors will open for you to spread God’s Word.
