You, only you
Ephesians 4:11 – Walk worthy of the calling of which you were called.
Sometimes I wish I was good at painting, or that I was an amazing singer. I question my thin, tangled hair and wonder what it would be like to have thick and sleek hair that didn’t require half a bottle of anti-frizz spray each morning. I wish that I was more confident, more out-going, more extroverted.
But in those moments, I know I need to remember that God made me Mieke Maybury (or formerly Mieke Kotze) for a reason. He has a plan just for me – a purpose and a calling with my very own name on it. He didn’t call me to be different than who I am. He called me to be me, with my strengths and my weaknesses. He gave me the very gifts I needed for what He is calling me to do.
I’m not walking in your calling, just like you’re not walking in mine. I was called by my own name by God and so are you.
So let’s drop the comparisons and the self-bashing. Make the effort to love yourself today – love your name, love your strengths, love your weaknesses, love your past and your future. Love that God called you you for a reason.
