Prison or platform?
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 – Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Last night at youth, the girls spent around 45 mins lulling over this verse – what our weaknesses are and what it means to us when God is our strength in our weaknesses. All of us, as human beings have weaknesses, whether it’s insecurities, something that has happened to us in our past or simply just life-things that constantly hold us back.
When I listened to a podcast by Carl Lentz, the Hillsong NYC pastor, he said how our weaknesses – whatever they may be, big or small – can either be our prison or our platform. They will either hold us back, imprison our hearts, emotions and ultimately our lives or we can use them as our platform for God’s glory.
As Romans 8 tells us, God always wants to use everything in our lives for good – so it’s up to us to make the decision to work with God to use our weaknesses and allow Him to be our strength. He’s ready and waiting for us to take that step of faith, inviting Him into that vulnerable part of our lives.
