Come to me
Matthew 11:28-30 – “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Walking with Christ shouldn’t be heavy. Sometimes we put this unnecessary weight on our lives thinking we need to do certain things in order to earn His love, grace and forgiveness. We think we need to run at His pace in order to stay in His will.
But that’s not how God works. He meets us where we are and how we are. We don’t need to read a book of the Bible every day in order to get Him to love us or answer our prayers.
All He wants us to do is accept Him as our God and walk with Him. He wants us to lay our burdens, our heavy-weights at His feet. He wants us to praise Him with open hands, ready to receive what He wants to give to us. God wants to teach you about His grace -which comes freely and can’t be earned. God isn’t a watchdog, waiting for us to make a mistake.
