Along for the ride
2 Timothy 2:22 – Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
What are you pursuing in life? Is it more of God? More of who He is – peace, love, faithfulness and right-living? I love that Paul calls it pursuing. It shows that that type of living isn’t just handed to you as soon as you call Christ your Lord. It’s a daily pursuit – something to be constantly striving for and asking for. It’s so easy to wander and get lost down the wrong path.
I’ve read this verse so many times before but only today has the last part of the sentence stood out to me. Who are you doing life with? Are they pursuing the same things? Are they on the same journey as you are?
Because if they are, the journey is bound to be way easier. If there comes a day that you stumble and fall, losing your way, those people who are along for the ride will pick you back up. They’ll notice your fall and they’ll help you to get back on your feet. They’ll remind you which way you’re going and why.
Find people like that to surround yourself with. People who are heading in the right direction – towards God, and only God. People who look out for each other, encourage and make the journey so much more pleasurable.
