Hosea 13:4-6 – “I’m still your God, the God who saved you out of Egypt. I’m the only real God you’ve ever known. I’m the one and only God who delivers. I took care of you during the wilderness hard times, those years when you had nothing. I took care of you, took care of all your needs, gave you everything you needed. You were spoiled. You thought you didn’t need me. You forgot me.”
My heart broke slightly when I read this verse this morning. Have you ever felt used by someone? Ever had your heart broken? Been disappointed to the point of feeling kicked in the gut?
I wonder if this is how God feels every day that we all live. Even in the smallest of moments, we so easily forget Him. We forget that He is seated on the Holy Throne. That He is love. We live in shame or feel condemned, forgetting that He sent His only Son to die for that very reason – so that we could live freely and lightly.
We forget the moment He saved us from ourselves. The days we lived lost and in despair, but then He brightened up our lives, giving us hope and a future worth looking forward to.
We forget Him so often, but He never forgets us. There isn’t a moment when He forgets your name, your purpose and your calling. He doesn’t forget why He loves you or what you’re going to do and who you’re going to become. To Him, we’re unforgettable – worth loving and worth dying for.
