Proverbs 20:4 – A farmer too lazy to plant in the Spring has nothing to harvest in the fall.
My husband and I are getting into the habit of reading the Bible together every morning when we wake up (so cute, I know). We read through this verse in Proverbs a few days ago, and it lead onto a conversation about what area in life we feel like we’re not putting much effort into. We talked about harvests we’d love to reap one day, but what we’d need to plant now in order for that to happen.
So both of us set a goal for ourselves – something we’re going to persevere working hard on now, so that we can one day see the fruit of. We prayed for strength, favour and guidance in our decisions.
What area of your life would you love to see a harvest in? What could you put more effort, heart and work into?
Is it simply reading your Bible more regularly? The harvest of that will be a closer, more intimate relationship with God as well as wisdom (described in Proverbs as more precious than rubies). Or spending more time with a loved one? The harvest of that goes without saying – a stronger relationship/friendship.
Whatever it is, I invite you to join us on a journey of planting – starting today! I pray that God honours your decision, making a way for you to achieve what you want, teaching you valuable lessons along the way. May your harvest be more fruitful than you could ever imagine.
