An expectant morning
Psalm 5:3 – In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
How are you approaching God today? If I’m honest, there are plenty of mornings when I completely forget to approach Him at all. But reading this verse reminds me that there’s probably no greater way to start each day than laying it all before the Lord of all Lords, the King of Heaven and earth and the Lover of our souls.
You don’t necessarily have to lay down heavy, deep burdens each morning. Simply a to-do list and a prayer for the day ahead invites God to come work. Putting Him first each morning opens a door for the Holy Spirit to do something divine in our every day.
This morning as I read my Bible, I asked God to bless my day ahead. To make my day productive, giving me the motivation and inspiration to do what He needs me to do. To guide me to speak to the right people, giving me the right words to say.
Not only does it invite God in to our day, but it also sets an expectation for what He’s going to do. It sets our hearts right with Him as the focus, knowing and believing that He can do anything and everything this very day.
