Psalm 18:16 – He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
At our church, at the beginning of each service after worship we take the time to pray for needs within the church. After that, we celebrate praise reports of answered prayers. When reading Psalm 18, it felt like reading through King David’s praise report. I recommend reading the whole chapter because it really is beautiful.
This verse stood out to me the most. I love that the most High God, the One who sits on His throne in Heaven, reaches down to us. And not only does He reach down, but He takes hold. He holds to us on when we can’t hold on to life anymore. He draws us out of our deepest despairs, saving us from drowning in our troubles.
He is our every faithful Saviour – caring so deeply about the condition of our hearts that He would do anything to rescue us. Even when we’re not faithful in return.
Are you struggling today? Are you struggling to keep your ahead above the water?
Whatever it is, take encouragement from David’s praise report. He was drowning, and our faithful Father in Heaven drew him out and saved him. What He does for one, He can do for others. He will save you too.
