Hold my hand
Psalm 37:23-24 – The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
A couple of years ago, whilst on holiday with my family in Tenerife, Bradley and I went for a walk along the seaside clifftops. I didn’t choose the best footwear for our walk, completely oblivious to the fact that it would be that rocky. My flipflops struggled slightly as my feet tried to find some stable grip.
Thankfully Bradley chose sensible footwear – a pair of nice sturdy trainers. He held my hand as we climbed along the rocks to get a better view of the turquoise blue ocean. I remember thinking to myself that if it weren’t for Bradley’s strength and balance, and him offering his hand (what a gentleman), I would have fallen a few too many times. In fact I would have probably fallen so hard the first time that I would have needed to turn around and head back to the hotel, missing the beautiful view.
In life, God is the balanced and strong one, holding out His mighty hand for us to lean on. We may stumble in our journey through life, but He never lets us fall. He wouldn’t let us hit the ground.
Maybe all you need to hear today is that God has got you. He is faithful, strong, mighty and all powerful. He won’t let you fall, regardless of how many times you may stumble.
