The key to humility
Proverbs 11:2 – With humility comes wisdom.
For too long I have mistaken humility for belittling my self-worth. I thought that to be considered humble I needed to make out that I wasn’t good enough, able enough or worthy enough. I thought that being humble was the same as saying ‘oh no, I’m not that good’.
But actually, the humility that Christ speaks about in the Bible is actually simply relying on God’s strength. It’s saying ‘I’m able to do all of this because of God’s greatness‘. It’s placing honour in the right place and giving glory to the One who deserves all the glory. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less and thinking of God more. It is possible to be both proud and humble at the same time. Be proud of what God has done in your life and give honour where honour is due. What’s more, through this humility comes one of the greatest gifts of all, wisdom.
