1 Peter 1:6-7 – So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
Don’t you love that there is wonderful joy ahead?! Not just joy, but wonderful joy. Wonderful is defined as something that is extremely good! That’s the kind of joy that sits and waits for us ahead – an extremely good, awe-inspiring joy.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to forget that this right here isn’t my eternity. This earth, this life and even my current situation isn’t my forever. It may be my present, but it’s not my future. Jesus didn’t die on the cross for my sins so that I could just die after I finish this life. He died so that I could live with him forever in Heaven! He sacrificed His life so that I could experience the wonderful joy that’s ahead.
So don’t allow yourself to get too wrapped up in right now. This isn’t your home, my friend. Because of your faith, and the trials that have (and still are) causing your faith to strengthen, you will taste wonderful joy ahead. You will come face to face with your Maker, experiencing the beauty of true Love.
Persevere where you are right now, leaning on Jesus – counting on eternity the wonderful joy that it brings.
