The Father we have
Hebrews 4:15-16 – For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Before Jesus came down, we had no way of relating to our Father in Heaven and He had no way of relating to us. He was and is the perfect God. He knew that we needed a bridge, someone to reach from His perfection down to our sinful, imperfect nature. So He sent down His one and only son to live with us on earth in human form. He faced temptations and rejection just as we do. He faced a mortal death, so that we could live an immortal life.
What I love about our God is that He loved us enough to make a bridge. He cared enough to find a way to get us. He wanted us enough to empathize with our weaknesses and our imperfections. He isn’t distant. He isn’t far off. He’s close – perfectly close. Close enough to care about what we care for.
So we can approach Him with confidence because we know how far He went to reach us. We know that He was desperate enough for us that He sent down His Son to die for us! He has mercy and grace for us, regardless of what we do.
Our God, our Saviour and our Father is approachable. He invites us to have a close and personal relationship with Him. There aren’t any barriers anymore – nothing in the way of us being with Him.
