Matthew 11:29 – Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
So many times in our relationship with Christ do we condemn ourselves. We feel forced to be “good”, to “go to church”, to read our Bibles and pray. We think that if we don’t do those standard Christian things, God won’t love us as much or He won’t bless us.
But this verse says otherwise. God loves unconditionally. He doesn’t condemn us. He doesn’t judge us. He doesn’t have a list of requirements we need to fulfil in order to have access to Heaven or even His presence.
Sometimes it’s easy to feel judged or forced to be a certain way by someone else, whether they mean it to be intentional or not. But it’s so important to remember that God isn’t like that. Your relationship with God is never forceful or condemning. He loves you regardless of what you are or aren’t doing. His relationship intends to set you free, not cage you up.
When you walk closely with Christ, you’ll learn His unforced, unconditional and limitless rhythms of grace. His love will set you free.
