When Jesus gets in the boat
John 6:16-21 – When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, where they got into a boat where they set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. But he said to them, “it is I; don’t be afraid.” Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
This verse helps me to see Jesus as the Prince of Peace. I have heard throughout the Bible of references of Him being the Prince of Peace, but this is one of the best examples.
The disciples were already frightened from the strong winds and the rough waters, not to mention it was dark. So by the time they saw a man walking on water towards the boat they were probably terrified. But as soon as Jesus spoke to them, and got into their boat, the waves calmed and the boat reached the shore immediately.
I believe that Jesus can do this to our hearts. When life is crazy and anxiety and street arises, we can listen for Jesus, and trust that His presence will provide peace.
No situation is too big for Jesus. His peace can calm any storm at any time. Let the Prince of Peace into your heart today.
