He is compassionate
Matthew 14:14 – When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
I have taken one small sentence out of a story, because that one word stood out to me. Compassion.
Synonyms for compassionate include: gentle, tender-hearted, merciful, sensitive, sympathetic, thoughtful, big hearted, understanding, concerned, loving, kind and caring.
Maybe it’s just me, but sometimes I see God as so powerful and mighty, that I forget His kind, loving and gentle heart. It’s easy to think that He has more on His agenda than our feelings, especially when we have somehow caused our own hurts and disappointments through sin.
But all throughout the Bible, Jesus shows His compassionate and loving heart for humanity. He shows that our feelings are so important to Him. His heart breaks when ours does. He wants us to be healed and healthy as much as we do. He mourns when we mourn. He cries when we cry. Not because He didn’t see our trouble coming, but because He knows and understands how it saddens us.
If you’re suffering with sadness today, know that He understands and has compassion for you. He’s right alongside you, holding your hand and walking with you. He’s the friend that you need, and He’ll always be there.
