A Good Friend
Proverbs 17:17 – Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.
Proverbs 18:1 – An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.
Friendship is heavy on my heart this week – for the best reasons. Some of the girls in my life celebrated me on Monday, and it was the best feeling to know that these people would take the time our of their busy weeks and the effort to spend the day with me.
They’re celebrating with me and loving me in the best season of my life. But they’re the kind of friends who I just know will continue to love me in the worst seasons of my life. I know that they’ll support me when everything falls apart and life very simply sucks.
Who are your friends? Are you investing in them with your love?
One of the quotes that gets flung around quite often in our church is “show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” I really believe that God wants us to be intentional about who we spend our time with. They have a massive impact on the way we talk, think, feel, act and ultimately live our lives.
You don’t need to surround yourself with unfriends, who pursue their own selfish needs and only cause drama in your life. If they don’t treat you with love and respect, they’re missing the whole point of a true friendship.
When you pray this morning, pray that He places exactly who He wants in your life and that He will open the door for friendship. Pray that they will love you in every season. And more importantly, pray that you’ll love them in their every season. That you’ll be just as good a friend to them as they will be to you.
