A small beginning
Luke 2:16-18 – So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told to them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
Next week I’m expecting my first payment from my blog. Big deal right?! To me, the fact that I’m finally being paid for what I love to do is absolutely huge. But the amount I’m being paid is actually very, very small.
This reminded me of a message the pastor of my church spoke just over a year ago. It was called small beginnings, and it’s stuck with me ever since. God loves small beginnings. Isn’t the verse above proof enough?!
The Son of God was born in a manger!!! The most important human to ever exist on earth was born in a little run-down barn because there wasn’t any room for his parents anywhere else.
But God’s plans for Jesus’ life weren’t limited to that little manger. No, He proved His greatness later on… Miracle after miracle in Jesus’ adult life. He may have been born in a manger but He walked earth, changing everything with His love and His power and when His life came to an end He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven. Nothing could hold Him down.
God loves small beginnings. He loves to get the glory at the end, when His majesty and power shines through. Don’t despise where you are right now. Your small beginning is purposefully small, and God is about to do great things with it.
