But even if He doesn’t
One of the books in the Bible that I’ve recently been loving is Daniel. I’ll summarize my favourite part for you…
Before Jesus came to Earth, there were three men (Daniel’s friends) who worked for the king in Babylon. One day the king had a huge statue built in the town, and had everyone worship it. But the three men refused. They said that they would only worship and bow down to God.
When the king found out, he demanded they be thrown into pit of fire. He gave them one last chance to worship the statue, and they said…
“your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, o king. But even if He doesn’t, He is still good. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”
I find it incredible that they were so in love with God that even if He didn’t show up in their situation, they still believed He was a good God.
Can we worship Him like that? Can we love Him and trust Him so fully that even in the fire, we still say that He is good?
When the three men were thrown into the fire, they were unharmed and the king saw a fourth man in the fire with them – he saw Jesus.
