Romans 8:1 – therefore there is now no condemnation… for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live and walk not after the dictates of flesh, but after the dictates of the spirit.
I was listening to a podcast of a sermon by Steven Furtick, and he mentioned how true confidence is the product of true belonging. When you feel like you really belong somewhere, you are confident and comfortable. It’s like being in your own home – you belong.
This verse is a reminder that you belong to Jesus Christ. Throughout the Bible we are called God’s children.
Let no condemnation, from others or yourself, get in the way of you knowing that you belong to our Father in Heaven. You belong in God’s house because He paid the price for you. No one is in a higher position in God’s eyes. The pastor of the church, the person who prays fervently or the person who volunteers day in and day out at the Salvation Army doesn’t belong more to God than you do. He paid the same price for all of us, and He loves all of us the same. Regardless of what we did in our lives and how faithful we have been to Him.
There is no condemnation in His eyes, so make yourself at home in His heart. Walk through your day confident about who you are in Christ Jesus.
