Romans 12:2 – Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
I think it’s easy to expect your world to change when you start following Jesus. You expect it to be lighter, easier and more colourful. You expect to treat people differently and expect others to treat you differently too. You expect miracles to happen left, right and center and you expect God moments and God whispers every morning.
But what I have found from when I made that commitment to Christ, my world wasn’t the first thing to change. God started working in me. I started to think differently and see differently. I would notice and feel things I hadn’t before, and because of that, I acted differently. I didn’t want to do the things I did before my relationship with Christ. I didn’t want to say the same things and I didn’t want to be in the same places.
God transformed my life from the inside out. He stepped into my heart and my mind, and then through renewing my mind, He changed my world.
Isn’t that beautiful? That He cares enough for us to not just quickly transform our worlds, but rather take the time to work on what’s inside of us in order to better our outside.
