Who are you following?
Isaiah 8:11-12 – This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.”
There are moments in my every day life that I need to ask myself, who am I doing this for?
Sometimes without even realising it, we idolise people instead of God. We serve people instead of Jesus. We follow what people want for us instead of what God wants for us.
But just think, if you keep following people you will eventually get lost. God’s way is the only way that leads to eternal life. God’s way is the only way that leads to peace, grace and joy. God’s way is His will for your life. God’s way is where you’ll grow and develop into the person He wants you to become. God’s way is where you’re safe. God’s way is the only way where we’ll feel fully at home.
So remind yourself daily who your God is. Be prayerful about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Are you doing it for the approval of man or for the glory of God?
If you find this difficult, which pretty much all of us do at times, ask God for guidance and protection. Ask Him to guide you in your decision making and for protection against the places and things that may lead you astray.
