They condemned him
Mark 14:63-65 – The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death. Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.
You’re probably wondering why I chose such an encouraging verse for today’s devotional (note sarcasm). It’s an awful verse, to be totally honest. It’s cruel how they treated Jesus – the one who a couple of days later died and rose for them, despite the fact that they were the ones who put him on the cross.
But, in reading this verse I realised that humans are really dumb. They condemned Jesus Christ as worthy of death. Little did they know that He was the King of Life, immortality itself. Little did they know the power that was and is within Him. Little did they know that He isn’t death, but Love, life and everything that is good.
Let that be an encouragement to you in your world, with the people who are placing incorrect judgments over you. The people who see you for less than you are. The people who don’t see your big future, your precious gifts and the miraculous blessings that God has for you.
The condemning thoughts of those people don’t matter. The only One whose thoughts matter is God Himself. He is the only One who can judge you, and He says that you’re a masterpiece. He says that you’re altogether wonderful, beautiful with a future and a hope.
