See Him as a person
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The most famous and most beautiful verse in the world. Recently I’ve tried to look at it differently – tried to make sense of why else God would send Jesus in the form of man down to earth.
I was talking to one of my best friends the other night about being in a relationship with God. We were talking about how we connect to Him, how we pray and how to feel close to Him. I told her that I like to see Him as a person and not a God who sits on a throne and makes big decisions.
If you look at God as only a God, then you’ll think of Him as too almighty, too important to be right next you at all times. You need to see Him as a person. Someone who sits next to you on the harder days. Someone who laughs when you laugh, who smiles when He’s proud of you, who looks at you with the most adoring and loving eyes at all times.
It’s so important that you see Him as a friend, father and someone you can always talk to. He’s not too busy or too powerful to care about the things you care about, no matter how big or small.
Change the way you see Him, and you may feel His presence more than you did before. Change the way you talk to Him, and you’ll find you talk to Him more often.
There’s a reason why God made Jesus a human like us – He wanted us to be able to relate to Him.
