Matthew 15:8 – “These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
In my relationship with Bradley, the talk is important. It brings us closer when we tell each other we love them, and it’s honouring to the other person when we talk of our love to other people. Words of affirmation is a love language – it’s important! But it can’t be the only love language that gets spoken within a healthy, long-lasting relationship. That includes your relationship with God.
Are you honouring God in your every day walk with Him?
I have found that the best way to honour God with every part of your life, is to note how Jesus did it during His time on earth. How did He serve other people, whilst honouring His Father in the process?
To Jesus it wasn’t about looking good to the crowd, but instead it was about glorifying God in Heaven and proclaiming His name. Not just with His words but mainly with His actions. It was in the way He healed the sick, comforted the mourning and being a friend to the lost.
In honouring God with everything you do, your heart will draw closer and closer to His. Take the time today to walk the talk – to put an action into what you say you believe.
