Surrounded with favour
Psalm 5:12 – Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.
There was a point in my growing up, I think it was around the time I was writing the serious exams at school, when my mum told me to pray for favour. At that point I didn’t really know what she meant or what good it could really do. But for the past couple of years, asking God for His favour has been something I have prayed for every day.
Bradley and I even wrote down a prayer together just after we got engaged asking God for favour throughout the wedding planning process. It has been amazing to see just how God has truly provided within that period before the wedding, on the day itself and after.
That in reality is just a small example of God’s favour – I believe that His favour goes beyond anything we could ever possibly know. His mighty favour fills our lives in the places we don’t even know need it. He blesses us and protects us in ways that are so profound, it’s beyond our ability to understand.
So this verse describes it perfectly, as it says favour surrounds us as with a shield. It’s like being in a bubble, protected with His favour.
What are you facing today? Does it feel like an uphill battle?
Remember Whose favour surrounds you like a shield. Remember Who protects and blesses you. No battle is too big for Him to get you through.
