How God loves us
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoiced with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Oh, this infamous love verse. Who doesn’t love it, right?
It most commonly gets used at weddings because of how sweet and perfect it is. But as usual, I thought I’d look at it slightly differently this morning.
Replace the word love with God, because 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love.
God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He doesn’t dishonour others, He is not self-seeking and He is not easily angered. He keeps no record of wrongs. He does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God never fails.
Now that’s some good Tuesday morning encouragement right there! Write it on a post-it note and keep it on your desk at work. Make it your phone background. Read it out loud every single day! Never forget how perfect God is and how much He loves you! Remind yourself every single day that His love never fails – and His love is for you.
