Matthew 4:1 – Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be temped by the devil.
I’ve said it before in my devotionals, and I’ll say it again – life as a Christian isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s probably less easy than if you weren’t a Christian. Following God’s call over your life will require to step out of your comfort zone. He won’t just leave you in a place where you won’t stretch, grow and develop.
There will be seasons that are more comfortable than others. Seasons of pure joy and wonder. But then there will those seasons that God leads you totally into the wilderness – the uncomfortable and the unknown.
Just look at when Jesus was led into the wilderness. I’m sure He wasn’t excited to be heading out into the wild, knowing exactly what was lying ahead of him. No-one wants to go to the wilderness – surely?! But the great thing about this verse is that the Spirit led Him, which means that the Spirit was with Him. Jesus wasn’t alone with the devil, God and His spirit was with Him the entire time.
Where is God calling you to go? What is He calling you to do that just scares every fiber of your being? What is it that you know He is whispering to your heart but you want to resist and ignore?
Don’t forget that where God calls you, He is also leading you. You’re not going alone. You’re not walking His will without Him. He’s leading you. He’s paving the way before you. You won’t fail because He never fails.
