Return to Him
Joel 2:13 – “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
I love the phrase even now in this verse. It emphasizes the limitless love and faithfulness that God has for us. We’re never too far away, never too late to return to Him with all our hearts. We have never gone too far with our sins and we have never insulted God too much to not be able to feel His gracious and compassionate love.
How do you see God? Do you see Him as someone you can run to? Someone who doesn’t anger, but loves deeply and compassionately. Someone who abounds in love and looks at us graciously.
I think too many of us don’t see God as He actually is. We see Him as powerful, yes, but too powerful to possibly really care and love us all individually.
Really think about Him today. Think about how many times you can return to Him with all of your heart, mind and self. Think about how many times you failed, but He still blessed you. Think about how many times so many people in the Bible messed up and stumbled, yet He lifted them high. Take the time to really, truly think about His graciousness, compassion and abounding love.
