Good, pleasing and perfect
Romans 12:2 – Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Don’t you just love that our Father in Heaven has a will for us? And don’t you just love that His will is good, pleasing and perfect?! There is no flaw in His will. No imperfection. No mistake. No short-coming. Nothing half hearted. And nothing that can fail.
The only thing that can get in the way of us and His good, pleasing and perfect will is ourselves. We have this humane nature to conform to the world’s ways. We follow the crowd – what society has made normal. We follow each other instead of our God.
In this verse, Paul encourages us to transform our thinking from worldly thinking to Godly thinking. He uses the word renew, which means to make new again. That essentially means hitting the reset button in our minds. We need to forget what the world thinks and starting focusing on what God says. Who says that you need 100 likes on your Instagram in order to be liked? God says that you are so deeply loved that you have no idea just how loved you are!
The only way you can start living in His will is by truly knowing and understanding what He says. You need to delve into the Word every day and make the effort to hit the reset button. Don’t give yourself the opportunity to slip into the patterns of the world. Be too busy focusing on God and His good, pleasing and perfect word. That’s when you’ll be able to test and approve what God’s will is.
