Faithless to Faithful
2 Timothy 2:8-9 – Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.
2 Timothy 2:13 – If we are faithless, he is faithful.
Ever had that moment when you really questioned your faith? Perhaps you questioned why being a Christian can sometimes be difficult, stressful and tough… I particularly struggled with this when I first became more open about my faith. Why, if I was being brave enough to tell people about what I believe and who I believe in, was I being made ridiculed? Surely God could just stop them and make them like me?
Just look at Paul, who wrote this verse. He was one of the most ridiculed and suffered of all Christ followers. He was imprisoned just because of his open faith. But he encourages in midst of all this… He reminds us that God’s word isn’t chained. It isn’t dead! It isn’t forgotten about.
God’s word is living and breathing inside each of us. We just need to remind ourselves of His truth every day. The world can have their say and they can ridicule all they want, but God’s word and His foundation will always stand firm underneath our feet.
Even in our weakest moments, when we’re totally faithless, we can rely on Him being faithful. He will carry us when we can’t carry ourselves. He will lead us when we’re lost. And He will speak for us when we’re without words.
Be encouraged today that God’s word is your gospel, and it will never be chained. He is always faithful.
