Philippians 2:15 – Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
I was driving from Oxford to the city center of London late last night. My sat nav was taking me a weird way, that apparently was 15 minutes faster than the normal way. Half-way through my journey, I was wondering if maybe I entered the wrong post-code, because these roads were so windy and definitely didn’t look like I was heading towards one of the busiest cities in the world.
As I got closer to London, the sky hard turned dark and off in the distance I could see skyscrapers with their lights shining bright. It was a beautiful sight to see, and if it was legal to take a photo on my phone whilst driving, I definitely would have.
Not only was it nice too look at, it also managed to confirm that I was heading in the right direction.
Isn’t that the same duty that we have as Christians? To hold so firmly to the word of life, that we shine like stars for those who don’t know the Way, will see the Way through us?
We are made to be the ones to point the way Home. We have to shine so brightly, that they cannot miss Jesus within us. We need to live, breathe and shine Jesus and only Jesus. Even on our darkest days, when life is difficult and testing, we need to be shining His light still because that’s when people will see it the most.
