Go to the lost
Matthew 10:5-8 – “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
Jesus spoke these instructions to His twelve disciples just before He sent them out. I love how He wanted them to go straight for the lost. Jesus was most concerned about those who either didn’t know Him or walked away from Him. His love and attention isn’t limited to those who are faithful to Him and His Word.
It’s easy to remain in your comfort zone with the people who understand you and your faith the most. It’s easy to think oh they’ll never get it so I’m going to give up/not bother. But that’s not Jesus’ heart. His heart is big, roaring and desperate to save the lost. He sent His disciples to go for the lost sheep. He’s sending us, you and me, to go to the lost sheep of this world.
We don’t need to preach the gospel to every person we meet, we just need to be Jesus in a lost and broken world. We have freely received His love, grace and forgiveness. Now we have the authority to freely give that same love, grace and forgiveness to others – anyone and everyone.
