The first for everything
Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
I paint my nails every week. If you know me reasonably well, you’ll know that I take great pride in making my nails look perfect. I’ve learned over the years that to keep your nail polish chip-free for as long as possible, you must use a base coat first. It creates a good foundation for the colour to sit on, evening out any small bumps. For me, the base coat is the most important step in nail painting.
What’s the foundation of your day? How do you choose to start it?
Experience has taught me that when you start your morning with Jesus, the rest of your day has a good foundation to sit on. Whatever challenges or troubles the day may bring, you can fall back onto the Word of life and truth you soaked in that morning. I’ve even found that sometimes God has a word for you that you need to make it through the day in one piece.
Today is the first of August. How are you choosing to start this month? Start it with a good, solid foundation. Start it with praising Jesus in advance for all the things He’s going to do in your life over the next 31 days. Start it with the Bible. Set yourself up to win this month by making Jesus the first part of everything.
