Remember where you were
Genesis 15:7 – The Lord said to Abram, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it”
Let me put this verse into context for you. Abram and his wife Sarai have been struggling to conceive a child (they’re getting really old, like really really old). God promises him not only a son but as many offspring as there are stars in the sky. Now, as you can imagine, this is a big, quite unrealistic promise that God has made to Abram. I’m sure that Abram was feeling slightly skeptic.
That’s why I love what God says. In that verse God reminds Abram of where he used to be. God reminds him that He is LORD, and He has delivered him before! God reminds him of another time that Abram probably didn’t fully believe that He was going to pull through, but He did!
Are you relying on God’s promise right now? Are you struggling to believe that your situation is going to change? Are you doubting whether you will ever achieve that goal or get to where you want to be one day?
Take the time to remind yourself who God is. Remind yourself of that time He delivered you in the past. Remind yourself of everything He has done for you already. Surely He’ll do it again?!
If you’re struggling to remember those times, then look to the Bible. Look at all of those promises He made and delivered! Read the story of how Abram and Sarai gave birth to a boy, and how many descendants came after him. Read the story of how Jesus Christ died on a cross and was resurrected three days later.
Remember where you were, and let that give you hope for where you’re going.
