The gift of being set right with God
Romans 4:4-5 – If you’re a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, and you trust Him to do it (you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked) well, that “trusting-Him-to-do-it” is what gets you set right with God, by God. A sheer gift.
For the past few weeks, I have found that the word righteous has been coming up a lot. Everywhere I go and everything I read seems to mention that word.
Righteous is defined as worthy. In the Bible it literally means to be set right with God.
What Paul is saying in this verse is that in trusting God with the impossible, you receive the gift of being set right with God. You become righteous.
What is your impossible situation? Is it something that God is calling you to do that you just can’t imagine ever happening? Is there an area of your life that you just can’t possibly fix on your own? Is the job too big for you?
Trust Him. Hand over your impossibly situation to Him. And as a reward, you become righteous. You get set right with God.
The thing about being righteous is that it’s a daily pursuit. You have to choose daily to trust Him. Every day you need to decide to hand over your impossible situation and not worry about it.
Proverbs 21:21 says that whoever pursues righteousness will find life, prosperity and honour.
Make it your daily pursuit to trust God and receive the gift of being set right with Him.
