Matthew 14:13 – Jesus withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place,
Matthew 14:23 – He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. He was there alone.
There are plenty more verses that I could add, that describe Jesus finding time alone to pray. Throughout His time on earth, Jesus made the effort to spend time with God by Himself.
If Jesus, the Son of God, the Perfect One, needs time alone with God then that highlights the importance of us having alone time with God too.
Do you make the time in your daily life to spend time with Him? With no distractions? No other people sat around you, wanting your attention? Do you have the time to commit all of yourself to Him? Where you can read the Word, pray to Him and have the time to hear back from Him?
I think that sometimes we get so consumed with everything that needs to get done in our lives that we forget how crucial it is to withdraw privately. We forget to take the time to pray. Sometimes we get to the end of our busy days and then pray. But by then we’re worn out and tired – ready to go to bed.
We need to give God time and attention. We need to be fully present, expectant that we’re going to be fed in that time alone with Him. We need to be fed the truth so that we have the energy to be the light throughout the rest of our day. Don’t compromise your alone time with God and don’t underestimate the power of it.
