God is preparing you
1 Samuel 17:48-50 – As the Philistine (Goliath) moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
Many people see the story of David and Goliath as a miracle. Surely it would have been impossible for David, a 15 year old boy, to defeat a giant.
But what most people forget is that David was actually trained. David was a shepherd boy. Every day he would be out with his sheep, guarding them. He learned how to fight off and kill any predator animals – both big and small. He learned that if he used his slingshot and a small stone, and aimed at just the right spot, an animal would die instantly. His years of being a shepherd boy prepared him for his fight against Goliath, without him even knowing it.
God is preparing you in the same way. Wherever He has placed you and whatever you are doing, with whomever you are doing it with, is all preparing you for something bigger. You’re learning things now that will make you stronger later. The struggles you’re facing now are making you more resilient for later. The things you’re waiting for now are developing your perseverance for later.
Don’t question your positioning. Don’t question what God is doing with you. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts – He knows something that you don’t. Trust that He’s building, stretching and growing you into the person He has destined you to be.
