1 Peter 2:12-15 – This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step.
He never did one thing wrong. Not once said anything amiss. They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.
He suffered, and was left to die on a cross for us. So that we could be free to live, rid of our own sin. We were once lost, but because of Him and His suffering, we are now named and kept for good.
When Jesus was on that cross, He thought of us. He considered us worthy enough. He thought that the price He had to pay for our eternity was worth it. Do you know your own worth?
Would you do that – willingly die for someone else’s mistakes? Die for a world that was so broken, and still is?
Jesus’ love is that big. We will never understand the enormity of His love and His grace for us. It’s impossible for us to comprehend the size of the sacrifice He made. The measure of pain He endured.
Today is called Good Friday, not because of what happened to Him but because of what He did for us.
